Manjeshwar Grama Panchayat
Overview & Cultural Heritage
Manjeshwar Grama Panchayat, situated at the northern tip of Kerala in Kasaragod district, occupies a unique position as the northern gateway to the state. Named after the sacred historical region of Manjula Kshetra (home to the historic Srimath Anantheshwara Temple), Manjeshwar is a vibrant, multi-lingual, and multi-cultural hub where Malayalam, Kannada, Tulu, and Konkani coexist beautifully. Bordered by the Arabian Sea to the west and Thalappady to the north, it has evolved from a historic minor port and agricultural center—celebrated for its rich cashew and coconut plantations—into a modern, progressive local self-government body.
A Pioneer in Digital India: Our Historic Milestones
Manjeshwar Grama Panchayat has consistently broken barriers to lead the nation and the state into the digital era. We are immensely proud to hold two monumental historic distinctions in public administration:
National First
India’s First e-Payment Panchayat
Manjeshwar made history for being the very first local self-government body in India to introduce an online e-payment system for property taxes. Powered by the Sanchaya software framework developed by the Information Kerala Mission (IKM), it revolutionized local governance by allowing citizens to securely pay taxes online via net banking and cards, completely eliminating long lines.

Kerala’s First Digital Civil Registration
In a massive leap toward bureaucratic transparency, Manjeshwar was the first panchayat in Kerala to successfully issue fully digitalized civil registration certificates (Birth, Death, and Marriage registrations). This paved the way for the smooth digital service delivery model that the entire state of Kerala enjoys today.
